Oboe and English Horn Guest Recital at the School of Music

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Musician Roger Roe will perform an oboe and English horn recital at Illinois Wesleyan University on Tuesday, March 13 at 8 p.m. in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). 

The event is free and open to the public.

Roe has performed on both oboe and English horn with orchestras in Honolulu and Charleston, S.C.  Currently an associate professor of music at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, he has made solo appearances with the Indiana Symphony Orchestra on oboe, oboe d’amore and English horn.

A past winner of the Fort Worth Young Artist Competition and of a DownBeat Magazine Award as Outstanding Young Classical Instrumentalist, Roe currently works with children’s music programs as a creative consultant and as a narrator.

Roe received his bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in 1990 and his master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1992.
