Tuba and Euphonium Ensembles to Perform Music Recital

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The IWU School of Music will present four tuba and euphonium ensembles in a Tuba Recital on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington).

The event is free and open to the public.

The Tuba Euphonium Quartet 2, which consists of senior Steve Cherney and first-year student Eric Vetter on euphonium and sophomore Autumn Winsor and first-year student Terry Joria on tuba, will perform Belle of Chicago March by John Phillip Sousa, Tuba Juba Duba by Terry Hutchinson, Ricercar Del Duodecimo Tuono by Andrea Gabrieli and The "Bottom's Up" Rag by Keith Mehlan.

Following the first quartet will be Tuba Euphonium Quartet 1 in performances of Loconic Overture by William D. Pardus, Spiritual Jazz Suite arranged by Lennie Niehaus, Fantasy by Ralph Martino and Finale from Symphony No. 4 in F Minor by Peter Ilyich Tschaikowsky.  The quartet consists of junior Katherine Carl and sophomore David Longawa on euphonium and sophomore Don Killinger and sophomore James McCauley on tuba.

Serenade by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will follow performed by senior Josh Biere, Killinger, McCauley and Ed Risinger, IWU adjunct faculty member in an all-tuba quartet.

After a brief pause, the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble will perform Gustav Holst's Second Suite in F and Tschaikowsky's 1812 Overture.  Conducted by Risinger, the ensemble will include all student quartet members from the concert as well as junior Chris Burrichter.
