Holiday Choral Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present its Christmas Choral Concert at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 at Holy Trinity Church (711 N. Main St., Bloomington), featuring the IWU Choral Ensembles and the Lyons Township Varsity Choir.

Tickets are available at the IWU School of Music Office and will be available at the door.  Admission will cost $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and IWU alumni and $1 for high school and college students. There is no cost for students in 8th grade or younger.

Under the direction of J. Scott Ferguson, professor of music, the IWU Chamber Singers will perform a variety of pieces including Benjamin Britten’s “Sweet Was that Song” and Guillaume Dufay’s “Magnificat.”

The IWU Collegiate Choir, also directed by Ferguson, will feature a number of compositions that will include Stephen M. Hopkins’ “When Jesus Was Born” and Herbert Howell’s “A Spotless Rose.”

The IWU University Choir, directed by Michael Fitch,  will also perform.

The Lyons Township Varsity Choir, directed by Ron Kiesewetter, will present several pieces including Thomas Luis de Victoria’s “O Magnum Mysterium.”
