BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music will present the opera Don Giovanni at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. Performances will take place in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The event is free and open to the public.
Don Giovanni, with music by Mozart and libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, is performed in two acts. Classified as a comedy and melodrama featuring supernatural elements, Don Giovanni is a version of the classic Don Juan tale and was first performed in Prague in 1787. The students will perform an English adaptation of the opera by Martin.
