BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan Office of Student Activities will present a vocal performance by Chapter 6, a professional a cappella ensemble from Illinois, on Friday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Hansen Student Center (300 E. Beecher St., Bloomington). The event is free and open to the public.
Chapter 6 is comprised of six vocalists and one arranger. Members of Chapter 6 are Chuck Bosworth, Mark Grizzard, Jarrett Johnson, Luke Menard, John Musick, Nathan Pufall, and A.D. Stonecipher. Their style blends pop, jazz, gospel, and rock. High-energy performances include an array of musical genres, from freshly arranged swing standards and pop/rock covers, to signature pieces such as “Ode To Krispy Kreme,” Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and crowd favorite, Chapter 6’s tribute to “The Wizard Of Oz.”
The group formed while the seven men attended college together at Milikin University in Decatur, Ill. They won their first competition in 2000, and when most of the members graduated from Milikin the following year, they entered the professional market. Chapter 6 is the only vocal ensemble to win both the International Competition of Collegiate A cappella (2001), and the National Harmony Sweepstakes (2004). The Association for Promotion of Campus Actitivities (ACPA) named them “Entertainer of the Year” in 2005, and the A Cappella Community Awards named them “Favorite Jazz Group” in 2006. Their four albums have sold over 30,000 copies worldwide, and critics say their popularity continues to grow daily, as they tour diverse venues throughout the U.S. and Canada.
