IWU’s Illinois Chamber Music Festival to Hold Fall Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Illinois Chamber Music Festival will present a Fall Concert with featured guest artist Julieta Mihai at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington).

This event is free and open to the public.

Violinist Mihai will perform Violin Sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and Eugene Ysaye and Hebrew Melodies by Joseph Achron. She will be accompanied by Illinois Wesleyan faculty for Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor, with Lawrence Campbell, professor of music, on piano, Nina Gordon, associate professor of cello and chamber music, on cello, and Lisa Nelson, adjunct instructor, on viola.

Mihai is a professor of music at Western Illinois University. She is the concertmaster of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra in Springfield, and was concertmaster of the Prairie Ensemble in Urbana-Champaign from 1999-2000. She was winner of the 1996 Concerto Competition of the Summer Festival Orchestra in Urbana-Champaign, as well as the 1996 Paul Rolland Violin Award of the University of Illinois.
