Scrap Arts Music To Perform Phonk!

October 22, 2007

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Scrap Arts Music will perform a mini version of their show, Phonk!, in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington) on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 12 p.m., co-sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.

The event is free and open to the public.

Phonk!, performed by five members of the group, is a dynamic percussion show that incorporates instruments built from recycled materials, scrap and found objects as well as high-energy choreography.

The mini show will premiere before the group’s upcoming performance at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.

Scrap Arts Music, founded by percussionist Gregory Kozak and designer Justine Murdy, focuses on presenting animated percussion performances. The group’s unique instruments, manufactured from scrap materials, reflect Kozak’s passion for environmentalism.
