Chapel Hour to Present "Puja: A Worship Service in the Hindu Tradition"

January 17, 2007

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan's University Chapel Hour and Special Events and Services will present "Puja: A Worship Service in the Hindu Tradition" led by IWU Associate Professor of Chemistry Ram Mohan on Wednesday, January 24, at 11 a.m. in Evelyn Chapel (1301 N. Park St., Bloomington).

The service is free and open to the public.

Puja is a Hindu custom performed to show reverence to a divinity through invocations, prayers, songs or rituals in order to make a spiritual connection with the divine.  The Hindu religion believes that this direct communication with the gods is established through an object such as an element of nature, a painting, or a vessel that is said to contain the deity's cosmic energy.
