April 4, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music's Wind Ensemble will perform a concert on Tuesday, April 11 at 8 p.m.  The concert, which will be held in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall, is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Steven Eggleston, professor of music, the ensemble will perform the following pieces: Jennifer Higdon's Fanfare Ritmico, Eric Whitaker's Cloudburst, David Dzubay's Ra!, Percy Aldridge Grainger's six movement work Lincolnshire Posy, Scott Lindroth's Spin Cycle and John Williams' Battle in the Forest, from the Star Wars score.

Although this is not its premiere performance, Fanfare Ritmico, commissioned through IWU's Alpha Lambda chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, was composed specifically for the Wind Ensemble.
