September 22, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Kent Cook, associate professor of piano at Illinois Wesleyan University, will perform a faculty recital devoted to composer Claude Debussy on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m. in the Westbrook Auditorium in Presser Hall, 1210 Park St., in Bloomington. The event is free and open to the public.

The program will include two books of 12 preludes that Debussy composed in 1910 and 1913. Some of the pieces include The Girl with the Flaxen Hair, Minstrels, The Sunken Cathedral, The Hills of Anacapri, Ondine, and Footprints in the Snow.

"These pieces are seen as some of the most important piano pieces from the early 20th century," said Cook.
