IWU Civic Orchestra to Perform Concerto/Aria Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University's Civic Orchestra will perform a Concerto/Aria concert on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Illinois State University's Braden Auditorium (100 North University St., Normal).  The concert is open to the public, with $5 general admission and $1 admission with a valid University student ID.

The program will include pieces performed by IWU students including Finlandia by Sibelius; West Side Story by Bernstein; Concerto for Bass Tuba by Vaughan Williams, with soloist Joshua Biere, a junior education major from Naperville, Ill., on tuba; Burleske by Strauss, with soloist Stephanie Jaeckel, a senior performance major from Mundelein, Ill., on piano; Concerto No. 2 for Clarinet by Weber, with soloist Katrina Stansbury, a junior education major from Eden Prairie, Minn., on clarinet; and L'amour est un oiseau by Bizet, with soloist Katherine Tombaugh, a junior literature/music double major from Streator, Ill., singing mezzo-soprano.
