IWU's Titan Film Series Presents: An Inconvenient Truth

August 29, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University's Titan Film Series will present the documentary An Inconvenient Truth on Friday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center, 300 Beecher St., in Bloomington.

An additional showing is scheduled at Hansen on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m., with a brief introduction by Given Harper, professor and chair of biology.

Sponsored by IWU's Office of Student Activities, the presentation is free and open to the public.

Directed by Davis Guggenheim, who also directed episodes of Alias, 24, ER and NYPD Blues, An Inconvenient Truth documents Al Gore's attempt to bring the problem of global warming into the national spotlight.  Gore combines striking statistics and images with personal reflections to portray what he considers to be the undeniable effects of global warming.  Ultimately, Gore insists, the resources to reverse the damage of this phenomenon are within reach—all that is lacking is the will to implement them.

The film is rated PG.  For more information, contact IWU's Office of Student Activities at (309) 556-3850 or visit their Web site at
