Ceremony Honoring War Veterans to be Held at IWU

September 29, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - ROTC and Illinois Wesleyan University will host a ceremony honoring Veteran's Day and alumni that have served the United States in war on Friday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. at the flagpole on the Eckley Quadrangle at IWU.  All are welcome.

Those who served in WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam War, or are currently serving will be honored, and veterans from Massachusetts to Alabama, Germany and London have been invited.

"This ceremony has nothing to do with the war right now; we're not making a political statement.  We're honoring those that have served in previous wars," said Bridget Karns, a senior history and international studies double major and a member of ROTC who is helping to organize the event.

The ceremony includes an invocation by Illinois Wesleyan Chaplain Dennis Groh, colorguard and Taps, played by a student from IWU's School of Music.
