U.S. Congressional Candidate to Speak at IWU
September 25, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - David Gill of Clinton, Ill., a Democratic candidate for the 15th
Congressional District of Illinois which includes parts of Bloomington and Normal,
will speak at Illinois Wesleyan University's College Democrats meeting on Monday,
Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. in room E104 of the Center for Natural Science Learning and Research,
201 E. Beecher St., in Bloomington.
The talk, which is free and open to the public, will address a bill currently in the
U.S. Senate that proposes restrictions on Web sites where users post personal information,
such as weblogs, Facebook.com and Myspace.com. Joining Gill will be Jim Hall, an
information technology professional.
Gill, who completed both his bachelor's degree and doctorate of medicine at the University
of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, is an emergency room physician who decided to run for
Congress in order to take action against recent negative changes he has perceived
in the government. "Like many Americans, I have been dismayed at the direction our
country has taken these last few years, and I feel that I must try to do something
about it," Gill wrote on his Web site.
