Rev. Joseph Lowery to Speak at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellowship Dinner

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - On Sunday, Jan. 28, Rev. Joseph Lowery, a civil rights activist known as the "dean of the civil rights movement," will be the guest speaker at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellowship Dinner.  Lowery is the co-founder, with Dr. King, of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC).

The dinner, co-sponsored by the United Community Gospel Singers of Bloomington and Normal and Illinois Wesleyan, will be held at 5 p.m. in the Main Lounge of Memorial Center (104 University St., Bloomington).

Tickets for the dinner are $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12 years of age and IWU students.  Tickets can be purchased at the Illinois Wesleyan University Bookstore (Hansen Student Center, 300 Beecher St., Bloomington), or by calling Carl Teichman, IWU director of government and community relations at (309) 556-3429 for tickets or group reservations.  The University, as well as the Bookstore, will be closed for the holiday season Dec. 23-Jan. 1. The Bookstore will also be closed Jan. 6.

No tickets will be sold at the door.
