BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University Flute Choir will perform "The Spirit of the Flute" for Chapel Hour Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 11:00 a.m. in Evelyn Chapel, 1301 Park St., in Bloomington.
Sponsored by the University Chaplain's Office and the Evelyn Chapel Advisory Board, the event is free and open to the public.
Director Jae Lyn Hepner hopes that the performance, which she describes as a collage of music, will stimulate emotions, senses and experiences that create a journey into the past, present and future. The choir, which consists of 19 flute players, will play music from different countries such as Africa, China and Ireland. The program will include traditional hymns, scripture, quotes and stories that directly relate to flute music's spiritually and emotionally uplifting nature. One particular piece the choir will play that represents this emotional reaction is entitled "States of Mind."
