IWU to Host Student Art Exhibition

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan's Merwin and Wakeley Galleries will host the
19th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition starting Tuesday, Feb. 14 and ending March
2. A reception will be held Tuesday Feb. 14 from 4-6 p.m., with an awards ceremony
at 4:30 p.m. in the art building (6 Ames Plaza West, Bloomington).
The event is free and open to the public.
The exhibition will showcase the work of IWU art majors and minors. All areas of
studio art will be presented including painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design,
photography, ceramics, sculpture and kiln-fused glass.
The juror for this year's art exhibition will be Julie Nelson, executive director
and curator for the Quincy Art Center in Quincy, Ill.
Awards to be presented include the President's Award, winner to be chosen by President
Richard F. Wilson and the Director's Award, winner to be chosen by Professor of Art
and Director of the School of Art, Miles Bair. The Career Center Purchase Award will
be given to one student whose winning piece of artwork will then be added to the permanent
collection in the Career Center.
