Summer Art Exhibit Closes with Reception, Sale

August 31, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -  Illinois Wesleyan University's Merwin and Wakeley Galleries will close their summer exhibition of Hatch Show Print works with a final presentation, reception and sale of the exhibited posters on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m.

At 4 p.m., Jim Sherraden, manager of Nashville's Hatch Show Print since 1984, will give a presentation of the history of the company, its graphic design impact on Southern culture, and its popularity and relevance today.  One of the oldest working letterpress print shops in the United States, Hatch Show Print posters have featured country stars from Hank Williams and Johnny Cash to Garth Brooks and Shania Twain.

Following Sherraden's presentation, the closing reception will begin at 5 p.m.  For the next hour, the Hatch Show Print posters in the exhibition will be sold directly off the gallery walls.  The event is free and open to the public, and at the sale, cash, check and credit card will be accepted.
