Annual Luncheon to Feature Illinois Rep. Tom Cross

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-Tom Cross, Illinois House Republican Leader and state representative
for the 84th Legislative District, will be the featured guest speaker for the Illinois
Wesleyan Associates annual luncheon on Monday, April 25, at noon in the Main Lounge
of Memorial Center (104 University St., Bloomington).
Cross, first elected in 1992, is serving his sixth term as state representative in
his district which includes portions of Will, Kendall, and DuPage Counties. In 2003,
he was elected by his colleagues to the position of House Republican Leader for the
93rd General Assembly.
Cross graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1980, earning a bachelor of arts
degree in political science. He went on to receive a juris doctor from Cumberland
Law School in Birmingham, Ala. Cross served eight years as a prosecutor in the Kendall
County State's Attorney's office before assembling the Joliet law firm of Mahoney,
Silverman and Cross, where he currently practices. He has been particularly active
in legislative efforts concerning medical malpractice reform, families, seniors, agriculture
and government accountability.
Cross has received recognition for his service from state and local groups, including
the Illinois Healthcare Association, Illinois State's Attorney's Association, Illinois
Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Drug Enforcement Officers Association, Illinois State
Farm Bureau, and the Illinois Chapter of AARP.
Illinois Wesleyan Associates, founded in 1953 with Adlai H. Rust and Clarence W. Heyl
as co-chairmen, consists of business and professional leaders interested in the advancement
and support of private higher education.
