IWU Fall Choral Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University's School of Music will present the annual Fall Choral Concert on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. in Wesley United Methodist Church (502 E. Front St., Bloomington).

The concert is free and open to the public.

IWU's University Choir, Chamber Singers, and Collegiate Choir will perform contemporary music conducted by J. Scott Ferguson.

The program will begin with the University Choir singing My Spirit Sang All Day, by Gerald Finzi; Sicut cervus (sung in Latin), by Giovanni da Palestrina; Meerestille und Glückliche Fahrt, Op. 112 and Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage (sung in German), by Ludwig van Beethoven; The Promise of Living, by Aaron Copland; and John the Revelator, arrangement by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory.  Doris Hill and Erin Crabb will accompany the choir on piano for the last three pieces.

Next, the Chamber Singers will perform Chanson on Dessus le Marché d'Arras (sung in French), by Orlando di Lasso; Solfeggio, by Arvo Pärt; and Go, Lovely Rose, by Halsey Stevens.

The final group to perform will be the Collegiate Choir, singing Ascendete Jesus in naviculam (sung in Latin), by Melchior Vulpius; Vineta, Op. 42, No. 2 (sung in German), by Johannes Brahms; Solóvushko, which means "nightingale," (sung in Russian), by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky; When David Heard, by Norman Dinerstein; I Cannot Dance, O Lord, by Aaron Jay Kernis; and Wade in the Water, arrangement by Allen Koepke.
