Suicide Awareness Speaker to Address IWU Students

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Suicide prevention and awareness advocate Sharneice Snyder will discuss “The Jason Foundation Keeping More Than Dreams Alive: The Awareness of Youth Suicide” on Tuesday, April 5, at 12:15 p.m. in the Student Senate meeting room, upper level of the Hansen Student Center, (300 Beecher St., Bloomington).

The event, hosted by the Titans Pro-Life Club, is free and open to the public.

Since September of 2002, Snyder has been the coordinator of the Jason Foundation Youth Suicide Prevention Program, a nationally recognized leader in youth suicide prevention education. She is also the director of community education/staff development at Streamwood Behavioral Health Systems. Snyder is a member of the Illinois Injury Prevention Committee for Suicide Prevention and serves as a board member for a youth program called “My Brother's Keeper.”

Snyder received her B.A. in organizational management from Concordia University and an M.A. in psychology with a concentration in processional counseling. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in philosophy of education.
