Ingram Hill and Michael Tolcher to Perform at IWU

April 4, 2005

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University's Student Senate Spring Concert will feature Ingram Hill, a Memphis-based band, and Michael Tolcher, a singer, songwriter, and musician, on Friday, April 15, at 8 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington).

Ingram Hill, composed of singer/guitarist Justin Moore, guitarist Phil Bogard, bassist Shea Sowell, and drummer Matt Chambless, has self-described their music as “pop-rock with a southern twist.” Critics have said that the dozen tracks on their debut album June's Picture Show are full of “memorable melodies and emphatic rock hooks,” and described Moore's voice as “strong and striking.” The band has opened for such groups as Maroon 5 and singers such as Lisa Marie Presley.

Georgian Michael Tolcher is said by critics to “deftly blend unfailing melodic and organic pop sensibilities with a deep understanding of soul, R&B, and urban grooves.” His debut album, I Am, was called “an inspired collection of songs and melodies that muse on life, love, and social consciousness.” Tolcher has performed with such groups as Stills & Nash, Sister Hazel, and Everclear, among many others. According to Pop Rox, “Michael's words aim to uplift in an era when artists fear committing to thoughtful, uplifting material.”

Doors will open for ticket holders at 7 p.m. Illinois Wesleyan students, faculty, and staff will receive one free ticket with a valid ID and can purchase up to five tickets at $5 each. Tickets will be available at the steps of the Bertholf Commons in the Memorial Center on IWU's campus beginning Monday, April 4. Tickets for the general public will be $10 and will be available through any Ticketmaster outlet beginning Monday, April 4.
