IWU Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance to Host Panel Discussion

March 4, 2005

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- In celebration of National Women's History Month, Illinois Wesleyan's student-run Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance (FMLA) will sponsor a panel discussion entitled “This Is What a Feminist Looks Like,” on Wednesday, March 9, from 7-9 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington).

The event is free and open to the public.

Panelists will include Illinois Wesleyan professors Sammie Robinson, assistant professor of business, Julie Prandi, professor of German, and Narendra Jaggi, professor and chair of physics, as well as Carol Csanda, director of Knowledge Services and Strategic Resources at State Farm Insurance and Meridith Kruse, instructor of women's studies and sociology at Illinois State University.

According to the FMLA Executive Board, the panel discussion is intended “to help humanize the idea of feminism on Illinois Wesleyan's campus and demonstrate that FMLA is an educational group working toward gender equality for both males and females.” In keeping with this goal, FMLA members and approximately 30 IWU faculty members will wear T-shirts with the slogan “This Is What A Feminist Looks Like” at the event.
