Fall Family Weekend at IWU

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University will host Fall Family Weekend 2005
on Friday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 25, with a variety of activities taking
place each day.
The weekend is organized with activities that range from rock concerts and sporting
events to art exhibits and a chapel service. It is designed to give grandparents,
parents, brothers and sisters a small taste of what happens on campus.
The events will begin with a rock concert by The Dog and Everything on Friday, Sept.
23 at 8 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St.). On Saturday, Sept. 24,
among other activities, families can attend a women’s tennis match at 12:30 p.m. at
the Beadles-Morse tennis courts (280 E. Emerson St.). They can also view the art
exhibits Against the Grain by Brian Roberts and Succession by Karen Hanmer from 1-4 p.m. in the Merwin and Wakeley galleries, located in the
Joyce G. Eichhorn Ames School of Art (6 Ames Plaza West). At 6 p.m. there will be
a football game at Wilder Field (300 E. Kelsey St.) and a Blue Moon
Coffeehouse concert by Carrie Newcomer at 8 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium (Presser
Hall, 1210 N. Park St.).
On Sunday, Sept. 25, families may attend the non-denominational Family Weekend Service
at 10 a.m. in Evelyn Chapel (1301 N. Park St.). There will also be a brunch from
10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bertholf Commons (104 E. University Ave.). All events will
take place in Bloomington.
