Comedian Dan Ahdoot to Perform at Illinois Wesleyan
August 30, 2005
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s Office of Student Activities will
bring standup comedian Dan Ahdoot to campus on Friday, September 2, at 8 p.m. in the
Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington).
The event is free and open to the public.
Ahdoot, who was a finalist on the second season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” says
he didn’t have a career in comedy in mind. Shortly after graduating with honors from
Johns Hopkins University as a premed student, he decided not to return to the field
of medicine, but rather begin a career in comedy. Ahdoot, who jokes that his parents
are “still thrilled” about his career choice, bases his standup act on his observations
about life as a young adult fresh out of college.
Ahdoot’s standup has helped him receive such honors as first prize at the Philadelphia
Comedy Competition in 2003, first prize at the NYC Triad Comedy Competition in 2002,
and to be asked to be the honorary guest at the exclusive HA! Comedy Festival in Manhattan.
Ahdoot has also written freelance for Comedy Central’s “Crank Yankers” and has been
featured on ABC’s “20/20.”
