IWU Presents Annual Classical Music Chapel Hour

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-Illinois Wesleyan University's Chaplain's Office and the Evelyn Chapel Advisory Board will present the annual Classical Music Chapel Hour on Wednesday, March 9 at 11 a.m. in Evelyn Chapel (1301 Park St. Bloomington).

The chapel service, coordinated by Associate Professor of Piano Susan J. Brandon, will feature music performed by Chapel Organist Susan Klotzbach as well as Illinois Wesleyan students and music faculty.

Included in the program will be soprano Ingrid Blomquist '07 singing “The Lord's Prayer,” accompanied by Jeff LaDeur. Violinist Mark Portolese '05 and pianist Ashley Locke '05 will perform “Six Studies in English Folksong” written by Vaughan Williams, and soprano Alyssa Stone '06 will perform “Cassandra's Lullaby.” “A Sextet” by Francis Poulenc will be performed by Amanda Andrews '07 on flute, Mary Allen '07 on oboe, Katrina Stansbury '07 on clarinet, Amy Plazek '06 on bassoon, Daniel Vendt '05 on horn, and Associate Professor of Piano R. Kent Cook on piano.

The IWU Flute Choir will perform works by Mozart and Marcello, and the Chapel Choir, under the direction of Michael McHugh '05, will sing “O Praise The Lord,” accompanied by Elizabeth Tuazon '07. Associate Professor of Cello and Chamber Music Nina Gordon on cello will be joined by Brandon on piano in a performance of Faure's “Elegie.”
