Illinois Wesleyan University Chapel Hour to Celebrate Hindu Puja

March 16, 2005

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University Hindu Students Association will Celebrate “Puja: A Worship Service in the Hindu Tradition” during University Chapel Hour on Wednesday, March 30, at 11 a.m. in Evelyn Chapel (1301 Park St., Bloomington).

The service is free and open to the public.

Puja is a Hindu custom performed to show reverence to a divinity through invocations, prayers, songs or rituals in order to make a spiritual connection with the divine. According to Hindu beliefs, this direct communication with the gods is established through an object such as an element of nature, a painting, or a vessel that is said to contain the deity's cosmic energy.
