MPAACT Theater Group to Perform at IWU
October 14, 2005
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s Office of Multicultural Student
Affairs will bring the MPAACT theater group in a performance titled, Blaxploitation: The Remix, to the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington) on Tuesday, October 18th
at 7 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Blaxploitation: The Remix is a comedic show of sketch performances, said by critics to be “provocative,” “courageous,”
and “irreverently intelligent.”
MPAACT is an acronym for Ma'at Production Association of Afrikan Centered Theatre.
The group was formed in 1990 at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, and
since then MPAACT has collected talents from a variety of programs in the Midwest,
such as Chicago’s Second City Training Program, the Theatre School at DePaul University
in Chicago, and Columbia College Chicago. The goal of the group is to share their
disparate cultural knowledge of African-Americans through performing arts.
