IWU Relief Concert for Hurricane Katrina Victims

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music will hold a special
relief concert for the victims of Hurricane Katrina on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m.
in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The event
is free and open to the public; donations for the relief effort through IWU’s Habitat
ty are encouraged.
The concert is titled “New Orleans: the Birthplace of Gospel and Jazz,” and features
the IWU Jazz Group Dixieland, directed by Tom Streeter, professor of brass instruments
and theory, and featuring Carren Moham, associate professor of voice, with Basin Street
Blues. Also featured on the program will be the Mount Pisgah Adult Choir with Illinois
State University Professor of Music and ragtime piano player David Feurzeig, as well
as The Heartland Jazz Orchestra directed by retired University of Illinois Professor
Tom Trimble and featuring lead singer Patsy Stone.
