IWU Chapel Service Offers Encouragement to New Students

Aug. 12, 2005

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University's Chaplain's Office and the Evelyn Chapel Advisory Board will welcome new students with a service for the Class of 2009 on Sunday, August 28 at 10 a.m. in the Evelyn Chapel (1301 Park St., Bloomington).

The event is free and open to the public.

In a sermon entitled “Known Destinations, Unknown Waters,” Dennis E. Groh, university chaplain and professor of humanities and archaeology, will speak about navigating the uncharted waters and inevitable storms of a college career. His references to historical and literary travelers will illustrate that though students may feel disoriented in their first days on campus, they are not alone as they begin their academic journey.
