Melissa Ferrick to Perform at Blue Moon Coffeehouse

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Indie song artist, Melissa Ferrick will perform at her Illinois
Wesleyan's Blue Moon Coffeehouse debut on Saturday, December 3 at 8 p.m. in the Memorial
Center's Main Lounge (104 E. University St., Bloomington).
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. for the event, which is free and open to the public.
The singer/songwriter, who is described as "fierce and funny, outspoken and vulnerable,
passionate and playful," will perform in celebration of her latest CD, "The Other
Side." The CD was created as a solo project in Ferrick's own recording studio and
features the musician playing several instruments, displaying several different aspects
of her artistry.
Ferrick began her career as a teenager, and at age 20, signed a contract with Atlantic
Records. Now, under her own label, What Are Records, the entrepreneur performs on
more than 150 stages a year, packing such venues as both Manhattan and Los Angeles's
Knitting Factory, New Orlean's House of Blues, and Boston's Somerville Theatre.
