BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Indie song artist, Melissa Ferrick will perform at her Illinois Wesleyan's Blue Moon Coffeehouse debut on Saturday, December 3 at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Center's Main Lounge (104 E. University St., Bloomington).

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. for the event, which is free and open to the public.

The singer/songwriter, who is described as "fierce and funny, outspoken and vulnerable, passionate and playful," will perform in celebration of her latest CD, "The Other Side."  The CD was created as a solo project in Ferrick's own recording studio and features the musician playing several instruments, displaying several different aspects of her artistry.

Ferrick began her career as a teenager, and at age 20, signed a contract with Atlantic Records.  Now, under her own label, What Are Records, the entrepreneur performs on more than 150 stages a year, packing such venues as both Manhattan and Los Angeles's Knitting Factory, New Orlean's House of Blues, and Boston's Somerville Theatre.
