Spring 2021 Teaching and Learning Resources
In order to provide a consistent technological experience for faculty, staff, and students ITS supports the following teaching and learning software:
- Moodle
- Google Apps
- Zoom
- Microsoft Office (via Office365)
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Qualtrics
- Department or program-specific software installed on University equipment (iMovie, SPSS, Mathematica, ArcGIS, etc)
Use of Third-Party Apps
We know that there are many apps and software services that make teaching easier for faculty and more engaging for students. While we have no specific policy prohibiting the use of third-party apps, please be mindful when making the choice to use an app that is not supported by ITS. Make sure you have sufficient knowledge of the app and are prepared to train students on its use. ITS staff welcomes the opportunity to assist faculty in the evaluation of software services and make recommendations for supported solutions (e.g. using Moodle Scheduler or Google Calendar instead of Calendly).
Training and Support
ITS currently provides faculty with self-paced, do-it-yourself training resources, but sometimes learning new software (or a new function in something you already use) is not an efficient use of personal resources. ITS staff now offers “done for you” instructional design services including: uploading files to Moodle, creating quizzes, formatting gradebooks, formatting videos, and more. For more information about these services or to make a consultation appointment, please submit your request through the Help Desk.
