Visiting Assistant Professor of Music in Choral Conducting/Choral Studies

The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music invites applications for a nine-month Visiting Position in choral
conducting/choral studies to begin Aug. 15, 2024  with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be in charge of programming, conducting, and maintaining the tradition of excellence of IWU’s university choirs--especially that of its Collegiate Choir. They will also teach
Choral Conducting and Choral Methods in the School's prestigious Music Education Program. Additionally, they will contribute to the University’s Shared Curriculum Program and teach in other areas of expertise, as needed and as permitted by their teaching load (3-3). Along with all other colleagues, they will actively engage in the School of Music's recruiting efforts.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a DMA in Choral Conducting or commensurate experience and
significant experience in secondary music education; will enjoy mentoring and working closely with
undergraduates; and will be committed to the effort of creating an inclusive atmosphere where talented
students of all backgrounds can thrive.

Compensation and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is a full
time, nine month, on-campus, benefits-eligible position. Benefits include health care plan, considerable time off and access to tuition programs for employees and dependents.
