Amerson '17 Wins "Emerging Leader" Scholarship

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University student Avery Amerson ’17 (Libertyville, Ill.) has been awarded an Emerging Leaders Award from the National Society of Leadership and Success. The financial award was made to Amerson for his leadership ability and accomplishments.

Amerson is one of only about 40 students nationwide to receive a financial award from the National Society of Leadership and Success, the nation’s largest leadership honor society. The society has chapters on more than 470 college and university campuses across the nation.

A psychology major at Illinois Wesleyan, Amerson is vice president and has served as secretary of IWU Pride Alliance and also served as LGBTQ Resources student coordinator. In this role, he managed and coordinated the Safe Zone program to construct programs to promote a respectable, safe and inclusive environment for students.
