Okuno-Jones '86 Named Advocate Health Care Vice President

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University alumna Susan Okuno-Jones has been
named vice president, nursing practice and innovation at Advocate Health Care, the
largest integrated health care system in Illinois.
Okuno-Jones received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Illinois Wesleyan in 1986. She earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and a Master
of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and she holds a
Master of Art in health service management from Webster University.
In her new role, Okuno-Jones will lead a system-wide approach to nursing professional
practice through evidence-based practice and nursing research. She joined Advocate
in 1987 as a staff/charge nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Advocate
Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill. Leadership positions at Advocate Lutheran
General included case manager of the NICU, coordinator of evidence-based practice
and magnet, manager of nursing science and magnet program director, and director of
professional development and service excellence. Since 2012 Okuno-Jones has served
as the hospital’s executive director of cancer, neurosciences and medical services.
