BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –Thursday, Nov. 26, as millions of Americans across the country sit down to give thanks, Illinois Wesleyan University students active in Habitat for Humanity remind us to remember the less fortunate.
Over Illinois Wesleyan’s Thanksgiving break the campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity will be doing its Power of a Dollar Fundraiser, asking all its members and students wishing to participate in the organization to ask 25 people for $1. The money raised will be used to build two LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) certified houses for families in need.
These two homes would be the first of their kind in the county and will be designed and built using energy saving strategies including water efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
