SEP 2016 Cohort

The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) is for current Illinois Wesleyan MALANA and International students. The program focuses on three major areas: academic, professional and personal growth. As participants of the program, students have a paid internship, learn from formal training workshops and work on a summer-long project servicing the Bloomington-Normal community. These activities are designed to enhance the students' team building and leadership skills. Consequently, those who successfully complete the program will be awarded a scholarship ($1,000).  The SEP 2017 theme is the "Evolution of the Revolution."  

Students wishing to apply to be a part of the 2017 cohort must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 
  • Be a rising sophomore, junior or senior (current first-year to junior class standing)
  • Commit to participating in the program from Monday, June 5, 2017 to Saturday, August 5, 2017
  • Commit to engaging in an internship for up to 32 hours per week from June 5 - August 2, 2017
  • Attend weekly on-campus meetings on Thursdays throughout June and July to engage in discussions, workshops and activities related to cultural, career and leadership development
  • Submit an online application and two recommendation forms (from IWU faculty or professional staff members, and/or current or recent employer). It is preferred that one recommendation is from a faculty member.
  • Attend the SEP spring retreat (a weekend in March)
  • Attend check-in meetings regarding your internship placement in March and April

El Programa de Enriquecimiento de Verano (Summer Enrichment Program o SEP en inglés) está diseñado para los estudiantes MALANA e internacionales actuales. Este programa se enfoca en tres áreas específicas del desarrollo: el académico, el profesional y el personal. Como participantes de SEP, los estudiantes trabajan en pasantías pagadas, asisten a talleres formales y completan juntos un proyecto de servicio para la comunidad de Bloomington-Normal. Las actividades serán dirigidas para mejorar las habilidades en el liderazgo y la formación de equipos. Por lo tanto, los participantes que completan SEP recibirán una beca. 

Los estudiantes que desean participar en el SEP del 2017 tienen que cumplir los siguientes requisitos:

  • Comprometerse a estar aquí desde lunes el 5 de junio del 2016 hasta viernes el 5 de agosto del 2017
  • Entregar una aplicación, y dos formularios de recomendación (por lo menos una tiene que ser entregada por la facultad) 
  • Asistir a UNA reunión informativa completa (si se llega tarde no se cumple el requisito) 
  • Tener un índice (GPA) de 2.5
  • Asistir a un retiro de primavera (en un fin de semana o en marzo)
  • NO pueden estar en su último año de estudios
