Egbers Quadrangle

Dick Wilson

July 1, 2015

I am pleased to announce that a special ceremony was held on Tuesday afternoon to dedicate and name the quadrangle on the north side of State Farm Hall in honor of the Egbers family of Bloomington. Jan Egbers and her children made a major gift to the University to construct the new quadrangle in recognition of their loyalty to the University and their desire to perpetuate the memory of Gary Egbers, a 1972 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan and active member of the Illinois Wesleyan Associates Board and Board of Trustees before his untimely death in 2004.

The Egbers gift enabled the University to create the new quadrangle and to commission a water sculpture by Giles Rayner. The stainless steel water sculpture is called Aspiration, a name chosen by the artist to reflect our mission as a liberal arts university. We are very fortunate to have alumni and friends like the Egbers who provide support for projects that enhance the quality of the campus for all of us who are part of the Illinois Wesleyan community.
