School of Theatre Arts Presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — In a timeless story of magic and love gone awry, Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Theatre Arts will present Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream Feb. 20-23 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Jerome Mirza Theatre at McPherson Hall (2 Ames Plaza East, Bloomington).

Shakespeare’s romantic comedy tells the story of four young, unrequited lovers who attempt to run away from an arranged marriage in Athens, unaware of the mischievous fairies which roam the forests with the power to manipulate the hearts of mortals.

The cast includes: Maya McGowan ’20 (Hippolyta); Sam Hulsizer ’20 (Theseus); Stephano Egleston ’20 (Lysander); Megan Lai ’19 (Hermia); Kieran O’Connor ’21 (Demetrius); Andrea Froehlke ’20 (Helena); Kamilah Lay ’19 (Titania); Jace LeGarde ’19 (Oberon); Rebeccah Cauthorn ’20 (Puck); and Will Mueller ’19 (Bottom). Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Christopher Connelly will direct the play with assistant director Lea Hulsey ’21.

Tickets go on sale Feb. 11 at the McPherson Hall box office (open 12:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). Tickets are $12 for Friday and Saturday, and $10 for Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
