School of Music Hosts Faculty and Guest Recital

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –– Illinois Wesleyan University's School of Music will host a Faculty and Guest Recital on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

The recital will feature IWU Associate Professor of Cello and Chamber Music Nina Gordon playing cello, Adjunct Instructor and Accompanist in the School of Music Nancy Pounds on piano and Assistant Professor of Music Lisa Nelson playing the viola. It will also include guest artists Michelle Lee Elliott and Leanne League on violins.

Guest artist Michelle Lee Elliott has led a diverse musical career as a chamber musician, orchestral musician, and soloist. After receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Michelle continued her studies at the Yale School of Music where she earned both a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma degree. She also received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado.

Leanne League specializes in chamber music and orchestral performance. She is associate concertmaster of the Madison Symphony Orchestra and assistant concertmaster of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Her undergraduate studies were completed at Florida State University and the Eastman School of Music before earning a M.M. in Performance from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

The faculty and guest artists will perform pieces by 19th century composers Max Bruch, Antonin Dvorak and Frank Martin.
