BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — In celebration of its centennial Homecoming, City of Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner proclaimed Oct. 1 as “Illinois Wesleyan University Day.”

Announced at the Sept. 24 Bloomington City Council meeting, Renner said the day will encourage citizens to recognize the importance and impact of the University on the local community.

“I think it’s important that we highlight how closely we are tied to this town,” President Eric Jensen told the mayor and city council members while thanking them for the recognition.

Illinois Wesleyan will host its 100th Homecoming Oct. 5-7. The University will celebrate its alumni with award ceremonies, reunions, departmental receptions, athletics events, tailgating, music and theatre performances, and more.

The 2018 Alumni Awards Ceremony: Best of Illinois Wesleyan, which will honor four distinguished alumni, will take place on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Memorial Center’s Young Main Lounge.
