Wind Ensemble to Present Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan University’s Wind Ensemble will present a concert Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Performing pieces by renowned composers in wind band music, the group will also honor 100 years of American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein by performing a suite from his musical Mass, featuring a brass quintet. The program will also include: Eric Whitacre’s “October,” Arturo Márquez’s “Danzon No. 2,” John Frantzen’s “Euphoria,” John Barnes Chance’s “Incantation and Dance,” David Biendenbender’s “Melodious Thunk” and Leonard Bernstein’s “Suite from Mass.”

Conducted by Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Music Lev Ivanov, the group performs the finest wind band literature and has had the opportunity to work with Pulitzer Prize winners and world-renowned composers. The group also tours regularly and has appeared at performances for the College Band Directors National Association Conference and the Illinois Music Educators Association Conference.
