Multicultural Academic Achievement Recognition Ceremony

BLOOMINGTON — Illinois Wesleyan University, in collaboration with the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Educational Activity Club, hosted the 27rd annual Multicultural Academic Achievement Recognition Ceremony on Monday, July 16 at the Shirk Athletic Center (302 E. Emerson St., Bloomington).

Registration and a reception were held from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Attendance at the ceremony was by invitation only.

The event featured guest speaker Shri Chandak, Vice President, Hindu Swayam Sevak Sangh (HSS) Midwest USA.  Avani Rai, Evans Junior High School, performed the national anthem. The event included a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers. 

The ceremony recognized over 1,300 Bloomington-Normal multicultural youth in the 5th through 12th grades who have displayed outstanding academic achievement.
