BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music’s Jazz Combo and Symphonic Winds will present a concert on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Comprised of top jazz players in a small group setting, the Jazz Combo will present a variety of jazz works from Lee Morgan, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, Gerry Mulligan and others, as well as original compositions by group members.

The IWU Symphonic Winds, led by Adjunct Instructor of Symphonic Winds Jason Gardner, will perform Procession of the Nobles by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Shadow Rituals by Michael Markowski, Danzon No. 2 by Leonard Bernstein, Elegy for Albinoni by Shelley Hanson, and other challenging pieces.

Each year, approximately fifty students, both music and non-music majors, are selected for the ensemble, which holds performances both on campus and within the Bloomington-Normal community.
