Web Developer

University Communications

 

Illinois Wesleyan University is seeking a creative web developer to join our dynamic communications team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual who knows industry best practices. Responsibilities will be to develop and maintain the infrastructure of the University website and related services, and will include responsibility for the architecture and function of the website. Specific duties will entail:

 

  • Becoming proficient in the University’s Content Management System (Omni CMS)
  • Maintain the website using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and XML/XSLT
  • Work with Communications and Marketing creative teams, with primary emphasis on the iwu.edu website as a student recruitment and fundraising vehicle.
  • Ensure website responsiveness, up-to-date WCAG compliance, and best practices for website security and SEO performance. 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education, experience and accomplishment.
  • Demonstrated experience and detailed working knowledge of HTML, XSL, CSS and Javascript 
  • Experience in a LAMP Stack environment is beneficial
  • Experience in a modern JS Framework, such as React, Vue or Svelte, is a plus
  • Effective analytical, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

The final candidate will pass a pre-employment background investigation.  Per the Governor's August 26, 2021 Executive Order regarding COVID-19 vaccination, personnel in the higher education setting will need to either provide proof of vaccination, or apply for a medical/disability or religious exemption.
