Multifaith Engagement Coordinator

This position supports campus culture through student's faith development and support.  Support faith-based student organizations, campus faith activities and programs, and promotes awareness and appreciation of religious diversity.   This is a part-time (20 hours week), 10 months/year (August 1-May 31), on-campus position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and implement spiritual life programming (including diverse faith celebrations/traditional holiday observances) that helps students, faculty and staff connect world views with liberal arts foundations

  • Advise, coordinate and support world-view/faith based student organizations, including groups with external advisors; meet regularly with student leaders to support their outreach efforts and campus visibility; meet regularly with non-IWU faith group advisors to ensure consistency with IWU values and policies

  • Recruit, select, train, supervise and mentor the Multi-faith Ambassadors and other student leaders; recruit, select and train the Mult-faith Ambassador team of student leaders; supervise, support and  mentor student leaders on their activities that support engagement across the campus community, including active blog, campus announcements, and ongoing programming

  • Advise campus leadership on world view inclusion and provide support for concerns related to campus climate concerns about religion/spirituality/faith; convene the Council on Religious Life to review campus climate, new religious RSOs, and other campus policy needs; providing support for Title VI educational programs around anti-semitism; refer students to appropriate departments or resources; liaison with local faith leaders to provide religious support for students

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Three years’ applicable experience; knowledge of diverse faith traditions and worldviews, interfaith engagement principles, student development, program planning and event coordination, ethical and crisis intervention practices

Level 19: $22.72/hr (20 hrs/week)
