Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2022-2023 academic year. The position is renewable for the 2023-2024 academic year, contingent upon completion of a successful performance review. Qualifications:

Candidates should a have Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field (by summer of 2022), significant
education/experience in both the chemical and life sciences, and a commitment to teaching at a liberal arts institution.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position revolve around teaching undergraduate courses in General
Chemistry, GOB Chemistry, and/or Biochemistry. The typical teaching load is two courses and two laboratory sections per semester or the equivalent. Undergraduate teaching assistants are available to assist in teaching laboratory sections and grading. Applicants will also be encouraged to participate in scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students, and participate in department and university service. Research activities that involve undergraduate students will be supported by the University.


The applicant must have demonstrable skills in oral and written communications. In addition, the applicant must have observable dedication to undergraduate education; enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom; and ability to work in teams.
