(2-28-19)  Congrats. Two of our math majors,  Jacob Houghton  '19 and  Son Cao  '19, recently passed two actuarial exams each.

(2-27-19)  Prof. Seung-Hwan Lee  announced that his Mathematical Statistics course (Math 325) has been re-approved for VEE credit through the Society of Actuaries.  This keeps our curriculum in line with the ever-updating world of actuarial science.

(2-15-19) This past Tuesday Prof. Saad El-Zanati from Illinois State University kicked off our Beling lectures for the spring semester.  The title of the talk was On Edge Oribts and Hypergraph Designs.

(10-16-18)  Professor Seung-Hwan Lee  authored the following papers:

  1. (with Dr. C.Kim (Illinois Natural History Survey, U. of Illinois at U-C) and Dr. E. Muturi (Crop Bioprotection Research Unit, USDA)) "Copula Modeling of Differential Effect of Leaf Species on Aedes albopictus Development Time", Environmental and Natural Resources Research, Vol. 8, 1-11, 2018
  2. Assessing the Censored Linear Regression Model using Martingale Approximation, Communications in Statistics. To appear.

(10-9-18)  Here is an update of some things we've been up to over the summer.

  • Yuanziyi Zhang '18  participated in the prestigious  Budapest Semester in Mathematics  last year.
  • Kayleigh Ruffolo '19  had an internship at COUNTRY Financial over the summer.
  • Multiple students passed actuarial exams.
  • More will be posted as people inform us of their awesome activities.

(May/June 2018)  Prof. Andrew Shallue taught a May term course on research in mathematics.  There were a lot of productive and interesting projects done by students.  Some students took the opportunity to present their research at a conference organized by Prof. Shallue at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.  The conference was called Algorithmic Number Symposium (ANTS).
