At IWU, we view our diversity-centered graduation celebrations as a privilege. These
celebrations not only provide the opportunity to revel in the accomplishments of our
outstanding students, but they also provide the opportunity to reflect as an institution
on where we are and where we still need to be in regards to diversity on our campus.
Currently we have two distinct graduation celebrations that celebrate the diverse
identities of students within our community. Multicultural Graduation celebrates our domestic minority students and the individuals who helped them to
navigate through IWU successfully. Lavender Graduation recognizes our members of the LGBQA and TGNC communities and allies and allows these
students to speak about the trials and triumphs they experienced while members of
marginalized groups on campus.
