The Writing Program at IWU is pursuing both quantitative and qualitative assessment tracks.  Regular assessment takes place at IWU in May each year, when a small group of faculty meet to score randomly-selected, anonymous writing from IWU students, focusing alternatively on freshman, senior, and mid-career students, using a scoring guide based on IWU student writing. In addition, faculty have produced an outcomes-based qualitative assessment, the Mappa Wesleyana, which informs other narrative statements of learning goals in writing at IWU.
